What is PRP?
PRP is a compound created from your own blood to develop a healing treatment that erases wrinkles, improves skin elasticity, and boosts overall tissue health.
PRP concentrates a sample of your blood to vastly increase the platelet count. Platelets are a natural part of your blood that allow for clotting at wounds, but platelets also contact numerous proteins and other compounds that speed healing and encourage healthy tissue development throughout your body.
To create PRP, your technician takes a routine sample of blood from a vein in your arm. They spin this sample down in a high-speed centrifuge to concentrate the liquid part of the blood and the platelets. The PRP is then injected back into your body or applied during microneedling in a technique sometimes called a vampire facial.
How does PRP fight facial wrinkles?
PRP provides anti-aging benefits when applied to your skin. Your technician may apply the PRP through facial injections or add it to your microneedling procedure.
The numerous growth factors in PRP encourage collagen production in treated areas. Collagen is a powerful protein that your body produces to boost skin health. As you age, collagen production declines, but PRP can revitalize it.
PRP injections help fill in lines around your eyes, mouth, and nose. After treatment, you notice tighter, plumper skin and a reduction in visible facial lines.
Because PRP is made from your cells, there is no risk of rejection or reaction as there might be to other products.
How does microneedling with PRP work?
Microneedling is a procedure that uses the SkinPen®, a handheld device affixed with tiny needles, to make micro wounds on the surface of your skin. Your body senses these wounds and rushes in healing compounds that essentially rebuild collagen and boost the look of your complexion.
Adding PRP to the microneedling process means you get even more healing benefits. Plus, the PRP can reach deeply below your skin’s surface as it seeps in through the microscopic needle pricks in your skin.
